Children and sand dunes are a perfect match. At Timlalin, about an hour north of Agadir, kids can slide down golden slopes, ride a camel and run along the crests with the ocean below — while parents enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes on the coast. Here is how to plan a family day that everyone enjoys.

Sandboarding: the children's favourite

Sandboarding is usually the activity kids talk about for weeks. Younger children can ride sitting down like a sled, while older ones love trying to stand up. Falls are soft, runs are short and they can go again and again. Starting from €10 per person, it is also the most affordable activity.

Camel rides: calm and magical

A camel ride of about 40 minutes is gentle, slow and led by a guide from start to finish. For many children it is their first time riding an animal this big, and the moment the camel rises from the sand is always memorable.

Motorised rides for older children

Teenagers often want something faster. A side-by-side buggy tour lets a parent drive with a child beside them, sharing the excitement. Age and driving requirements for quads and buggies are confirmed when you enquire, so mention your children's ages in your message.

Tips for a stress-free family day

  • Choose a morning or late-afternoon slot to avoid the strongest midday sun
  • Pack plenty of water and snacks — climbing dunes builds appetites
  • Apply sunscreen before you arrive and bring hats that stay on in the wind
  • Bring a change of clothes for the drive home
  • Keep the day short for young children: one or two activities is plenty
  • Add hotel pickup to avoid driving with tired kids afterwards

A suggested family plan

Arrive in the late afternoon, start with sandboarding while energy levels are high, continue with a camel ride and finish with sunset tea — children usually enjoy the sweet mint tea too. Our sample itineraries offer more ideas, and our packing list covers the essentials.
